Mountain Springs Calvary Chapel, Cabo campus (referred to here as "we", "us", or "the church") is responsible for the personal data collected through this website. This is the responsable under Mexican data protection law.
Mountain Springs Cabo is a campus of Mountain Springs Calvary Chapel, a church based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Some of our staff and systems are located outside Mexico, which is explained in section 7.
Information you choose to give us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, your email address, the reason you selected, your message, and your phone number if you decide to provide it. If you subscribe to our mailing list we collect your email address, and your name if you give it. Nothing on this site asks for payment details.
Information collected automatically. Our web server keeps standard technical logs, which can include your IP address, your browser type, and the pages you requested. To stop automated spam, the site also keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for about ten minutes when you submit the contact form, purely to count submissions. It cannot be read back as an address, and it is discarded afterwards.
Information collected through cookies and similar tools. We use analytics, and may use advertising pixels, to understand how people find the church and which pages are useful. These are not needed for the site to work, and you can refuse them. What they do, and how to turn them off, is set out in section 8.
What we never do. We do not build profiles of individual worshippers, and we do not sell or rent your information for money. Some privacy laws, including in California, treat sharing information with advertising platforms as a "sale" even where no money changes hands. Where we use advertising pixels, that sharing is described in section 8 and you are free to refuse it.
Mexican law treats information revealing religious belief, health, or similar personal matters as sensitive personal data, which requires your clear consent before it is handled.
If you send us a prayer request, or write anything personal in your message, you are choosing to share that with us, and you consent to our pastoral team reading it so that we can pray for you and reply. We treat these messages as confidential. We share them only with the small number of church leaders who need to see them in order to help. We do not publish them, add them to any public prayer list, or use them for any other purpose without asking you first. We never use anything you tell us in a prayer request for analytics, advertising, or mailing list targeting. Please include only as much detail as you are comfortable sharing.
These purposes are necessary for the relationship you are beginning with us:
Secondary purposes are the ones that are not strictly necessary in order to answer you. For us these are:
We are not pursuing the first two of these yet. When we do, it will be through the tools described in section 8, and you will be able to opt out of them.
You can refuse any secondary purpose, or change your mind later, and it will make no difference to how we answer your message or pray for your request. Adjust your cookie choices as described in section 8, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to admin@mountainspringscc.com and tell us to stop.
We send email to people who have asked to hear from us. This covers news from the Cabo campus, service and event information, and occasional encouragement from our pastors.
Messages sent through this website are delivered by email to our pastoral staff. Because Mountain Springs Cabo is part of a Canadian church, those messages may be read and stored by staff in Canada, and our email is handled by providers that may store data outside Mexico. By sending us a message you consent to your information being transferred and stored in this way so that we can respond to you.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data, and we do not hand it to anyone to use for their own unrelated purposes.
Some parts of the site load content or tools belonging to other companies. When that happens those companies may receive your IP address, information about your device, and the page you are viewing, and they may set their own cookies. They act under their own privacy policies rather than ours:
These companies are largely based in the United States and handle information there and in other countries, under privacy laws different from Mexico's. You can prevent most of this by refusing cookies, which section 8 explains how to do.
We also link out to Church Center (Planning Center) for online giving and the full church calendar, and to our social media pages. When you follow those links you leave this website and that company's privacy policy applies. Any card or bank details for giving are entered on Church Center's own secure system, never on this site, and we never see or store them.
A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to keep. Related technologies do the same job under other names: a pixel (also called a web beacon or a tag) is a tiny invisible image or snippet of code that reports back when a page loads, and local storage holds information in your browser in much the same way. Where this notice says cookies, it means all of these.
They fall into four groups.
Your choice. Strictly necessary cookies are always on, because without them the site cannot function. The analytics and advertising groups are optional. You can refuse or delete them whenever you like, using the steps immediately below, and your browser's own privacy settings will block them too. Refusing costs you nothing: every page works exactly the same, and we will still answer your message and pray for your request.
How to refuse or delete cookies. Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings, then Privacy. You can also:
Analytics records are kept for a limited period, no more than 14 months, and are then deleted automatically. Blocking cookies never affects your ARCO rights in section 9.
As at the date at the top of this page, none of the analytics or advertising cookies described above are running on this site. Only the strictly necessary and embedded content groups apply today. This section is published ahead of time so that you know what to expect, and the date will be updated when anything changes.
Under Mexican law you have the right to Access your personal data, to have it Rectified if it is wrong or incomplete, to have it Cancelled (deleted) when it is no longer needed, and to Oppose its use for particular purposes. Together these are known as ARCO rights. You may also withdraw consent you previously gave us.
To exercise any of these rights, email admin@mountainspringscc.com and include:
We will answer within 20 business days, and there is no charge for making a request. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to complain to the Mexican data protection authority.
We keep messages only as long as we need them to answer you and to keep a reasonable record of our pastoral contact with you, and then we delete them. Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics records are kept for no more than 14 months. Spam prevention records are deleted automatically after about ten minutes. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes.
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site, and we do not knowingly add children to our mailing list. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to the website and to our email is limited to the staff who need it and protected by passwords, and the forms on this site are protected against automated abuse. No website can promise perfect security, but we treat what you send us with the care it deserves.
We may update this notice as the church and this website change, for example when we introduce analytics or begin sending a mailing list. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last changed at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you before it takes effect, by email where we have your address.
If you have a question about this notice, or about anything we hold, please write to admin@mountainspringscc.com. We would rather hear from you than have you wonder.
